The Alighieris are a well-known family of daring travelers, most of whom end up killed by occupational hazards. It is often affectionately said around town that the family is "cursed", but no such curse has struck Dante yet.
Personal History:
Dante was born to the legendary explorers Sparda and Eva Alighieri. Sparda in particular was a well-known conspiracy theorist who theorized the existence of a supernatural world separate from the human world long before the burning down of Vincell. Thus, he instilled these theories of his into his sons, Dante and Vergil, both of whom made it their lifelong goal to chronicle the supernatural world, which the Alighieris referred to henceforth as "Inferno". Unfortunately, early in the brothers' lives, their parents were both killed while on a particularly dangerous expedition, leaving Vergil to care for Dante. One day, shortly before Vincell's destruction, Vergil went through but was lost to the flames when he attempted to return, leaving Dante all alone. Now, it's all up to him to achieve the Aligheri family's dream: a complete account of the nature of the supernatural world, "Dante's Inferno".
Personality
Accustomed to the crushing loneliness of being without family and the sensation of losing loved ones to tragedy, Dante Alighieri is largely emotionally detached but masks his sorrows with humor. He flawlessly dons the facade of the smooth-talking, carefree rebel never without a joke up his sleeve.
Powers:
No "powers" to speak of per sé, but has been trained by both his late father and slightly older brother with the skills one needs to be a great adventurer, such as awareness of one's surroundings, being observant, and agility. He's also been physically trained to achieve great (but by no means superhuman) upper and lower body strength for moving heavy obstacles and running as quickly as possible in case of an unexpected booby trap. Also a gifted writer with a flair for poetic language.
